The Path of Mindful Activity - Bringing the Teacher's Instructions to Life

The Program

On the spiritual path, meeting genuine teachers is a beautifully transformative experience; with their support and guidance our journey comes alive. Out of that inspiration oftentimes we are drawn to connect with a community and to offer our service in support.

These connections bring a great richness to our lives and foster a strong sense of meaning.  However, even in the best of circumstances, at some point we may become ambivalent or even fearful about our commitment and the impact it has on our lives.

When we encounter these rough spots on the journey we question our relationship to the teacher, to the community and even the truth of the dharma we've been practicing; we're faced with a major challenge, figuring out how to persevere, or better yet, how to transform these difficulties.  Do we change our relationships?  Do we seek new ones? Can we use this experience to make a deeper, more personal connection to our teacher and the path?

Our sessions will start with 45 minutes of meditation, and we ask that everyone be there on time to share in this.

After each meditation there will be a presentation, discussions and a variety of contemplative tools which will help us explore assumptions and sticking points in the student - teacher relationship. We'll talk about the challenges that shake our connection, and take a fresh look at the topic of commitment.

Please try to commit the full program so that we can deepen this exploration together.

On Saturday, please bring your lunch so that we can share this time together between the morning and afternoon sessions.  And if so inclined, please bring some food to share with others.
