We all want to find some meaningful truth about who we are, but we can only find it guided by our own wisdom-by our own rebel buddha within. --The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, in Rebel Buddha

Our introductory series enjoys a strong reputation nationwide as a precise, compact presentation of authentic Buddhist wisdom teachings and practices. Offered in clear, jargon-free language with modern examples, it's a great way to explore how ancient wisdom can work in your life.

The four courses that constitute the Introduction series cover the life of the Buddha, Buddhism and cultural trappings, the nature of suffering and the path of freedom from suffering, the Buddhist perspective of a science of mind and meditation, the Four Noble Truths, karma, and the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.

The Nalandabodhi Study Path provides a comprehensive presentation of the views and practices within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. By leading students through a complete overview of the ground, path, and fruition of the three yana journey, the study path deepens understanding of the teachings in stages. The curriculum presents Introduction, Hinayana, and Mahayana teachings.

The majority of the texts have been culled from teachings given by the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, founder of Nalandabodhi, and his teacher  Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche .

Classes are kept small to encourage exchange-the questioning and discussion that are a vital aspect of the learning experience at Nalandabodhi. They begin with 30 minutes of calm-abiding, or shamatha, meditation and may also include contemplation or analytical meditation, an essential step that enables the student to form an intimate relationship with the teachings.
